Florida Fishing Report
10SEP04 Update
I want to thank all of you who have called or emailed in checking in on me post Charley and Frances. I have been blessed with fortunes larger than any fish we’ve caught to have acquired such friendships over the years. Thank you all! All is well here in the Tampa area. Thus far we have dodged any major damage or direct hits from these past two hurricanes. Our prayers are with those less fortunate 100 miles to the south, as well as those 90 miles to the east. Relief efforts in those areas have been strong and the good will of many people to rebuild is even stronger. It would seem pointless to write a full report on the fishing the past 3 weeks with now Ivan setting his sights on Florida. I will do that just as soon as he passes (hopefully far away) with an up to date report and fresh images. In a nutshell, we have had a major influx of freshwater runoff. Tarpon, snook, redfish, and trout have been making the daily catches in between the rain and wind of these major systems. Locating the fish on a day-to-day basis has been somewhat of a challenge with the water level and salinity changes. However, once found, they are more than obliging to our offerings. The runoff has flushed the creeks and cooled the water to very favorable conditions for late summer. Cool fronts will now start sliding south acting to block the paths of future tropical systems. As most of you know-late September through November is the optimum months for peak fall fishing. With postponements over the last 3 weeks, the schedule is going to be very tight this fall. If you are planning to hit the peak fall season for 2004, please contact us at your earliest convenience to insure availability during the peak. Screaming Drags and Tired Arms! Robert McCue
